About Us

A House of Prayer was established in 2004 when the members of Faith Evangelical Church in Laurel, Iowa voted to dissolve their relationship with the Evangelical Church, North Central Conference and reorganize as an independent House of Prayer. Soon afterwards, as Pastor Marc T. Jackson was walking around Marshall County in obedience to God, he received the revelation from God to give it the name "Heart of Iowa House of Prayer." (HOIHOP)

The Heart of Iowa House of Prayer is patterned after the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, where 24/7 prayer has been going continuously since 1999. Whether we ever get to the point of being open 24/7 depends on what God's plan is for us. We do know that we have been called to go out before the army (the Church) with worship, singing, praise, and prayer declaring freedom for the people of God as He brings down the strongholds of the enemy.

A board of five directors representing various churches around Marshall County oversee the operations. This is by design so that it will not be associated with any one particular denomination, but will be open to all who desire to know Jesus more intimately. Our primary goal, at this time, is to bring unity to the body of Christ as Jesus prayed in John 17, "I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me."

The Heart of Iowa House of Prayer is a place of refuge and healing. It is a place to seek the heart of God and grow in intimacy with Him. It is our hope that those who enter in will return to their home church and to the marketplace with a new passion to be the people God wants them to be. To walk in obedience to Him and bring glory and honor to His name through our love for each other. It only takes a spark to get a fire going. BLESS HIS NAME!
